We Can't Wait to See You in Basking Ridge

Updated: Apr 11, 2020

The author Frederick Buechner said it best: "The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet."

Our shops in Far Hills and Basking Ridge have thrived because of the personal relationships we've built with our customers in these two exceptional communities. We love seeing your faces come into the shop, preparing your meals for holidays or special occasions, and watching your families grow. It's difficult for us to imagine a more rewarding way to make a living.

Covid-19 has forced all of us to change the way we go about our daily lives. For us, that's meant reconsidering the way that we do business so that we can keep our customers, our employees, and our communities safe. Our family has built our reputation by offering our customers great food and personal service for more than a half century. Moving to an approach that continues to offer great food but creates social distance and efficiency has been a strange transition for us.

You've done your part as well, sticking with us as we implemented contactless curbside pickup and introduced the type of bootleg online ordering experience you'd expect to see a butcher cobble together last week. We're extremely grateful for your patience as we've made these updates quickly and ironed out the kinks over the past week or so. We promise to keep the great food piece firmly intact, no matter the changes to the ordering or pickup experience.

We do have one more change in store, and that will be to consolidate our operations in our Basking Ridge shop for the several weeks starting Wednesday, April 1.

It might seem counterintuitive, but this change will allow us to continue offering our contactless curbside pickup service to more people by managing a one set of inventory, one set of incoming orders, a single pickup location, etc. Moving to a single shop will also allow us to give our employees a well-deserved day off here and there after three consecutive 70ish hour weeks.

Finally, if you've come to our Far Hills shop in the past year, you've no doubt noticed the construction that's been going on. As the saying goes, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." This strikes us as the ideal moment to join our neighbors in making some upgrades to our building.

For those of you who have been coming to see us in Far Hills for years, we apologize for any inconvenience this temporary move creates. For the time being, we hope you'll be willing to head up 202 North to come see us in Basking Ridge. If you do, we promise to be fully stocked and ready to feed your deep hunger.
